How do I build up my spiritual confidence?
Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. You can build up your spiritual confidence by hearing the word of God. The more you read the bible, the stronger your faith will become, and the more confident you are when you hear God.
If you are studying to be a doctor but you never open your books to read them, then your confidence in doing surgery on someone would be very little to none. Reading and studying the bible is no different. If you want to succeed and grow in your spiritual life, you cannot do that without the word of God. The more you study the bible and seek answers, the more clearly you will hear when God speaks to you and the more your spiritual confidence will grow. The word of God is the textbook to life.
I have prayed but I still don’t think I have heard God.
In James 1:5-8 it says, “If you need wisdom– if you want to know what God want you to do–ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can’t make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.” It does not say that if you need wisdom and ask God you might hear an answer, it says that he WILL answer you and he will do it GLADLY.
You may need to look at the expecatations you have of God. Is your mind unsettled? Are you unsure if he will answer you? When you ask God for answers and wisdom KNOWING he will answer you is TRUSTING in his word and truth! He want us to rely on him in EVERYTHING we do, and so why would he ask us to do that if we could not count on him to answer? Are you expecting an answer from him or just hoping for one? The answer to that question can be life changing.
