Hearing God More Clearly
You may be struggling with some decisions in your life and have been praying about it for awhile; but are not sure if God has given you an answer yet.
It is easier to think of God coming to us with direction like he came to Moses in Exodus 3:4,”When the Lord saw that he had caught Moses’ attention, God called to him from the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am !” Moses replied.
Why doesn’t God speak to us the same way he did Moses?
This is a question you may have been thinking about for awhile now. “Wouldn’t it just be easier if he just told me out loud what he wanted me to do?”
“Why did he speak to Moses, but he won’t speak that way to me?”
The truth is that he DOES speak to us, just in a different way. When he died on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven he promised in John 14:16 and 17 that, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”
The Holy Spirit was not there with Moses like he is now with us. God sent the Holy Spirit after he ascended to heaven. You have a Counselor, and friend with you all day, everyday ready to listen and talk to you. He will help direct and guide you in the same way God did Moses.
As humans it can be difficult and scary to rely something that we cannot hear, see, or touch. Building up your spiritual confidence can help you hear God more clearly and confidently.
Friday I will continue discussing the second part of this series, “How do I build up my spiritual confidence?”.
