1 Cor 13
“is not provoked,”
God’s love in us does not seek its own way, its own rights. If you are ever “provoked to anger” you are generally feeling very strong about something…you feel as if your rights are being violated. The biggest problem with this is that when you insist that your rights be taken care of, approved or enacted…you do so at to the exclusion of everyone else. I’ll give you an example; remember Jesus saying to The Father,
“Again a second time He went away and prayed, My Father, if this cannot pass by unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
Jesus didn’t do anything to deserve what was to come upon him, but he allowed it for us! You may never know what “allowing” your rights to be disallowed on behalf of another person may do FOR them. That’s the love of God in us!!
