Love…”by The Book, The verses” 5
1 Cor 13:
5 b it does not seek its own,
I would guess that everyone knows what this phrase means…”to seek your own kind” to associate only with the people that you are comfortable with. I have been to churches where you sat in a certain section all the time. The boundary lines were set by groups of individuals who were friends, or felt comfortable being around one another. To sit “on the other side” can create uncomfortable feelings. But why?
I realize that it’s difficult to communicate with people who you do not know, people who you MAY have to become involved with. What if they have just a bit of a different opinion than you or your group does? What then? Do you remember John’s words in 1st John 4? He states that:
1 John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
There is no fear in love. I could continue on with this subject for a long time, but suffice it to say, seeking your own hurts other people…they are the one’s that God wants you to reach out to. So your homework for this coming week (especially on Sunday) is to go sit “on the other side” smile and love love love!!
