1 Corinthians 13:
5 does not act unbecomingly;
Acting “unbecomingly” for a Christian or a church has a specific purpose in life….and that purpose is to sow discord among the ranks of Christians. This is a counter measure that satan sets on the planet against Jesus statement in John 13: 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Did you get that? Jesus said that non-Christians would know us by our love for one another. Acting unbecomingly is the prime tool of satan to keep this from happening.
When we lived in Ohio, Linda and I used to go “bar hopping” on Saturday nights in Cincinnati in the “over-the-rhine” district. This district among other things is filled with prostitutes and drug dealers and many many bars. The prostitutes and drug dealers congregated in certain bars which Linda and I would go to and spread Jesus love. The prostitutes would argue over who was going to sit next to Linda because she looked like Bette Midler. The dealers would gather around the tables where we sat drinking our Sprite (in an unopened can so they would know that we don’t drink alcohol) and we just loved them. We wanted to show them the real Jesus, and we were treated like royalty in those bars…we were made to feel at home. How we long to see this happen in churches…so that the world would feel “at home” in our house too.
