The Vulnerable and Honest Parent
The Penewit Institute is introducing a new style of articles about parenting and children.
As parents we all go through a lot of the same issues, feelings, and life changes.
It can be very hard at times and sometimes it can feel like you are alone.
With every stage of a child’s life there are new challenges, and some days(weeks and months) can feel like a battle you are not winning. Sometimes it can feel like you are not getting the support you are needing. Whether that be from friends, family, or a spouse.
It can seem like other parents have their “stuff together” and you feel like your living in a state of chaos. The fear of them making judgements about you as a parent stops you from having someone to confide in or vent to. These articles will be a safe place to feel vulnerable and a place of understanding.
What will these articles be about and how are they different from the previous articles about parenting/children?
These articles will be personal articles about experience in my life with my family. I believe that it is important that mothers, fathers, step-mothers and fathers, and grandparents support and help each other without judgement.
As parents we hide how we are really feeling and when we are struggling a lot of the time. We don’t want others to judge us or make us feel like we aren’t doing a good job; because sometimes (or a lot of the time) we really feel that way.
These articles will be raw and real. I am a counselor, but I am also human. Sometimes I get angry, I get defensive, I feel judged, and Satan lies to me about what kind of mom I am. I make mistakes as a mother but I also have a Father in heaven that redeems me everyday.
I want these articles to uplift, empower, strengthen, reassure, and help moms, dads, and step parents.
Next week the first article will be posted. Look for “TVHP (The Vulnerable and Honest Parent)” for personal parenting articles.
