Can Trust Be Unbroken
Trust the basis for every relationship you have in your life. Family, friends, spouses, and even people you work for or with are people you would expect to trust. Unfortunately sometimes in life trust can be broken. It may not be until trust is broken that you realize it ties into almost every part of your relationship.
Trust has been broken…..now what?
Someone I love has broken my trust…can it ever be regained?
Yes trust can be regained, but it takes a lot of work. If the other person is wanting to have a healthy relationship with you once again then trust can be regained. It is also important that you forgive them. This will help with both of you start to heal and mend what may be broken.
I have broken someones trust…how do I get it back?
The relationship you had before trust was broken most likely will not be the same relationship you have even after trust is regained. The loss of trust forever alters a relationship. This does not mean that you cannot still have a meaningful relationship once trust is built back.
Redefining your relationship once trust is broken must be on the terms of the person who’s trust you have broken. You cannot force someone to trust you or want to continue to have a relationship with you.
So, what can you do?
First you can apologize. If you have broken trust with someone and cannot take responsibility for it they will most likely never trust you again. You should also ask God for forgiveness and guidance. He will give you peace and he will always forgive you.
Second, you can ask them what their terms are and what you can do to help gain their trust back.
Finally, you DO IT. And you do it CONSISTENTLY. Consistency is key here. Trust breaks because of the lack in consistency that there once was.
