Learned Behavior and Temperament
We all take on behaviors of parents or those who raised us, and all too often people think they are a certain “Temperament” because they took on the traits of their family.
Temperament is not inherited, it’s called Spiritual Genetics. Spiritual Genetics is what you inherited from your Heavenly Father! He “wired” or created you in His Image.
It’s important that one not ‘self-diagnose’ because of several reasons:
“Learned Behavior”.
If you grew up in a family where decision-making was easy you may have learned how to make decisions. You may be a Supine in Control (Supines find decision-making difficult and stressful) and really don’t feel comfortable making decisions, but you may be able to make decisions because your parents were good decision makers so you “learned” how to make them. (This is true in my case.)
“Birth Order”
If you are first-born the temperament traits are stronger than if you are second or third born. This could mask your true temperament.”Socio-Economic”
Did you grow up in a wealthy, middle-income or poor environment? How we think about money, working etc. has an effect on how our Temperament
appears to ourselves and others. It could mask our true temperament
“Spiritual Growth” Another factor that can “mask” what our true Temperament is includes spiritual growth. Those who allow the Holy Spirit to help them learn how to take control over their weaknesses, and how much time one spends with the Lord and reading His Word are factors that can mask what your true Temperament may be. You may have already dealt with a Temperament weakness without realizing it. This can “mask” what your true temperament is.
