The Struggles of a Teenager-Sex and Pregnancy
Sex.
It is everywhere.
Not only is it everywhere, but kids are also having sex at a younger age than ever. Boys are taught that they are not a “man” if they aren’t having sex and the more people they have sex with the more “manly” they are.
And girls are taught that their acceptance, their beauty, and true love comes from a man.
These are both lies that the world is telling them. Television, movies, social media, the Internet, and even books are protraying sex as a casual thing everyone is doing. So, in turn, teens are recklessly engaging in what the world is telling them is a “normal” activity at that age.
They do not see the consequences of having sex such as disease or pregnancy. They are acting purely on impulse and kids at that age have a hard time controlling their impulses.
How do I help my preteen/teen with their self-worth?
Building your teens confidence in who they are in Christ will help them resist the short term pleasures of the world. Self-worth and self respect are things that all teens struggle with. They look for acceptance from their peers and look to their peers to tell them who they are and what they are.
If they can build a strong relationship with the Lord, then they will have a strong foundation and be able to withstand many of the pressures that come along with being a teen.
My preteen/teen daughter is pregnant, I need help!
Teen pregnancy has become a big issue. Most teens do not have the skills or means to raise a child. Pregnancy for a teen can cause an immense amount of stress on, not only the teen, but also the rest of the family. Sometimes this can mean that family members are left with the responsibility of helping raise and provide for the child.
