Resistance, The Decision Maker

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 When we hear the word ‘submit’ it usually turns us off. But God clearly says for us to Submit to Him. Does He say this to control us? No, He asks us to do so because He knows our future. He has perfect plans for us, many times we get ourselves into trouble because we don’t submit to Him. If we would understand that He is Love and has our best interest at heart we wouldn’t get into the troubles we do.
Then the second part of the verse says: “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” How do we resist satan? 1. Submit to God, how? By doing what He tells us to do, the Bible is our guide. 2. When satan comes and whispers in our ear to look at or do things we know aren’t right, say NO! If someone was trying to break down the door of your house, what would you do? You would Resist in any way you could. Same thing, the Word of God has given us simple instructions, Submit to God and then when satan comes, Resist him using the name of Jesus.
