Rejection…It’s Not Yours To Carry
Rejection and past rejection is something that effects almost all of our lives and can be carried throughout your life.
It can cause tremendous stress and anxiety, and can take control over the way you act/react in situations.
Someone hurt me and I can’t let go.
Forgiveness is extremely important in order to heal from rejection. When you hold on to things that people have done to you and are not able to forgive, you relive that pain over and over again. If you choose to forgive them, not only are you setting them free, but you are setting yourself free. Free from the pain that you carried with that grudge.
Also, pray about the pain you have. And remember Jesus was also rejected and he understands that pain. In Isaiah 53:3 it says,
He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Know that you can give him that pain and he can understand you and the rejection you carry.
How is forgiveness a choice?
The best thing to do when someone hurts or rejects you is to choose to forgive them immediately. Then you are completely freeing yourself from the bondage of unforgiveness.
Luke 23:34 says,
“But Jesus was saying, ‘”Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”‘ And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.”
Jesus, while on the cross, asked his heavenly Father to forgive the people that wanted him dead. He gave that burden to the Father and choose to forgive. Just like Jesus did on the cross, we too can give that burden to the Father and he will ALWAYS set us free. That pain and rejection is not yours to carry.
