I’m Too Far Gone…
Many people struggle with having a positive self-image. The world is really good at making you feel worthless, ugly, and not thin enough.
Food has become a coping mechanism for many people. It is a comfort that is nearly impossible to resist. Its an addiction for many people. Unlike other additions, food is something you have to have in order to survive. This can also make it very difficult to get under control.
Regardless of what the world tells you and regardless of what the scale says your number is, your weight does NOT define you.
The only time I feel better is when I’m eating.
Over eating is not about food, there is an underlining emotional issue. Usually there is a deep pain that is being covered by food. Almost anyone with a food addition will tell you that the only time the pain is gone is when they are eating.
I’m too far gone…I don’t think I can do it.
It is never too late to start healing. It is important that you address the underlining issue in order to be successful. If the issues in your life that you tie to over eating do not get dealt with, you will continue to feel all the feelings you felt before losing the weight. You also may be more likely to fall back into bad coping skills such as over eating and be back at square one.
Learning to eat better and exercising is not about becoming who the world tells you you should be. It is about you taking control over a weakness that is CONTROLLING YOU. It controls how you feel about yourself, what you think of yourself, and ultimately the health of your body.
