Godly Strongholds: Opening the Door to the Holy Spirit
Earlier this week we discussed negative strongholds; what they are and how to get rid of them.
Today we will go over godly/positive strongholds and why they are so important.
What is a godly/positive stronghold?
A godly stronghold is a mindset or though pattern(positive) that causes you to act and react in a way that does line up with a godly lifestyle.
It is also essential in playing defense against the devil.
When discussing positive strongholds, if we allow positive thinking- The Word of God- to take root…he then becomes our fortress of thinking. And “a well-fortified place” will make it harder for Satan’s lies to take root. This is why it is so important to read bible verses out loud every day.
For example: A king does not build a well-fortified castle and leave it with no guards. He has people keeping constant watch for the enemy and for any “cracks” or “opening” that could allow the enemy to slip in. We also need to be that vigilant with our minds and our thinking.
The devil will be searching for any crack in our marriages, friendships, work relationships, etc. He is looking for that opportunity to sneak in while our guard is down. This is why it is important to filter our thinking through Philippians 4:8 immediately if possible. And if it does not line up with Philippians 4:8, then hit it with the Word of God, repent, and bind up the thought before it takes root.
We need to be constantly vigilant. 2 Corinthians 11:3 says,
But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
The devil is sly. If we let our guard down, he will seep in and out of our minds and our lives before we even realize.
