Fear Starts in the Mind
For the last few weeks we have been discussing fear and how to defeat it. But it is also important that you keep your mind vigilant and aware of when you are allowing fear into your mind. Combating fear as it enters your mind will help you keep your mind in control.
Its important to remember that what happens in the mind does not stay in the mind. Everything that we do and act on started in our mind. So, when you act impulsively to fear you have already allowed it to take root and you are acting out what started in your mind.
So, how do we keep our minds standing firm and vigilant when it feels like we have been acting in fear for so long?
How can I keep my mind vigilant so I do not allow fear to enter my mind?
Philippians 4:4-7 says,
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
In order to keep your mind vigilant so fear is not allowed, it is important that you are spending time fellowshipping with God. When you are fellowshipping with God, your anxiety and fear can be given to him. Also, it is important that you spend time praising him. Philippians 4:4 says to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.” When you spend time fellowshipping and praising God it closes the door to Satan. It keeps you vigilant with the knowledge of the strength of God.
