Negative Strongholds: Closing the Door to Satan
Do you feel like you are always in constant war with Satan?
Then you may be dealing with negative strong holds in your life.
What is a negative stronghold?
According to dictionary.com a stronghold is,
“A well-fortified place; fortress.”
When discussing negative strongholds, we are essentially allowing the devil to create a fortified fortress for negative thoughts. A strong hold is a mindset or though pattern(negative) that causes you to act and react in a way that does not line up with a godly lifestyle. This is why it is imperative to get rid of strongholds before they can take root.
How do I get rid of negative strongholds?
In Philippians 4:8 it says,
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
If you filter ALL your thoughts through Philippians 4:8 and ask yourself, “is this thought honorable and worthy of respect? Is it right and confirmed by God’s Word? Is it pure and wholesome? Is it lovely? Does it bring peace? Is it admirable and of good repute? Is there excellence in it? Is it worthy of praise?
If the answer is no to ANY of these questions, throw it out and do not allow it to take root in your mind.
This also includes things people may say to you to hurt you. If what they have said does not line up with Philippians 4:8 then throw that thought out and forgive them for what they have said. Also, remember that Satan is the enemy. He will use people around you(usually the ones closest to you) to hurt you and create negative strongholds.
