Blessings from our Heavenly Father
Its Christmas morning and you have been waiting for weeks for your kids to open that Christmas gift you know they have been asking for. When they open the gift, their excitement cannot be contained. The feeling that wells up inside of you when someone you love is so grateful, is the same feeling God has when he can pour his blessings on us.
We have a God that wants us to rely on him for all of our needs. He wants to show us his grace and pour his gifts on us. In Deut. 28:1 he says that, “your baskets will be overflowing with fruit”. It does not say, “your baskets will have an allotted amount of fruit”. He does not want to stipend our blessings. Instead, he wants to give us the gifts that our hearts truly desire. Our Heavenly Father knows our hearts desires better than we even know our own.
Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. He does not want us to just “get by”. He wants us to prosper (to succeed). If we ask him, he will show us how.
He also promises the gift of peace in Philippians 4:6-7 – “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus”. No one else can give us this gift, just like no one else can give us the gift of eternal life.
